An alumnus from University College Cork, Martin stopped to talk with the group as he was purchasing his weekly groceries.
For the group of five Quinnipiac students who had the opportunity to connect with Martin, they are so grateful for the experiences that they have had during the few weeks of their semester abroad.
Chloe Monaghan ’28, MS ’29, a student in the 3+1 accelerated dual-degree public relations program, said that her time abroad has been life-changing.
“Studying abroad in Cork has been the most exciting and fulfilling experience,” she said. “Already, in just a short time, we’ve made lasting memories, genuine friendships and have truly made a second home in Ireland. Meeting Ireland’s Taoiseach was just one of the many cool opportunities that living and studying in Cork allows you to do.”
Dual-degree health science studies/doctor of occupational therapy student, Hannah Lamancusa ’28, OTD ’30, also said that the experience in Ireland has been transformative.
“Studying abroad has given me many opportunities to immerse myself in Ireland’s culture,” she said. “I have loved how friendly everyone is and getting to briefly talk with the Taoiseach (Prime Minister), Micheál Martin, in an everyday setting like the English Market perfectly captured the accessible and welcoming culture of the country.”
