Alicia Giaimo, clinical professor and chair of diagnostic imaging at Quinnipiac, received the prestigious John Archer Award from the Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists at its annual conference on Oct. 3.

The award recognizes a radiologic technologist who demonstrates professionalism and advances the society’s goals and ideals through contributions to the profession.

“I am incredibly grateful and will continue to do my best to give back to this profession that has given so much to me,” Giaimo said.

Giaimo said she was surprised and humbled by the recognition, noting that the relationships she has built with students, colleagues and patients have been among the most rewarding aspects of her career.

“I was both shocked and deeply honored to learn that I had been selected to receive the John Archer Award,” Giaimo said. “The fact that I did not know I had been nominated makes this recognition especially meaningful.”

Throughout her career, Giaimo has focused on educating future technologists, advocating for excellence in patient care and advancing the field of medical imaging.

“For me, the greatest rewards have always been the relationships I've built with students, colleagues and patients, and the opportunity to contribute to a profession I love,” Giaimo said. “To be recognized by peers whom I respect so greatly is truly humbling.”

Giaimo has been at Quinnipiac University since 2005, serving in leadership roles including department chair and program director for radiologic sciences. Dedicated to teaching, mentorship and clinical excellence, she prepares future imaging professionals while engaging in scholarly research and professional development. Her conference presentations have focused on bone densitometry and breast cancer screening guidelines.

Giaimo earned her MBA, Master of Health Science and Bachelor of Science from Quinnipiac.

“Alicia is a true paragon of the medical imaging field: a beloved professor, an accomplished scholar and a leader whose teaching and clinical expertise has impacted countless lives,” said Trent Honda, dean of the School of Health Sciences at Quinnipiac. “It is wonderful to see her accomplishments recognized by the Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists."
