After graduating from the School of Law in May, Matthew Iannantuoni, JD '26, will be clerking for the Honorable Judge Hope C. Seeley at the Connecticut Appellate Court. As the former executive managing editor of the Quinnipiac Law Review, Iannantuoni said he will always be grateful for the knowledge and mentorship he received at Quinnipiac.

Iannantuoni’s interest in law began early, inspired by his mother’s work in the field. However, it wasn’t until his undergraduate studies that his path became clear. He learned about the history of the Americans with Disabilities Act while taking a Disability in American Literature class, motivating him to pursue a law degree.

“I come from a family with a wide range of disabilities and special needs,” Iannantuoni said. “I felt a law degree would prepare me to advocate for them and for people like them.”

Though his interest in law began with advocating for people with disabilities, his experiences allowed him to discover new intertest in land law. He specifically cites Professor Marjorie Shansky’s land-use class, fostering his passion for his practice. During an exam for the class, he had a moment of realization.

“I remember the utter anxiety leading up to the mock-hearing, the relief when it was over, and thinking, ‘This is something I could do for a career,’” Iannantuoni said.

As a non-traditional student, Iannantuoni worked a full-time job during his undergraduate program, but Quinnipiac’s academic scholarship allowed him to pursue his law degree without financial stress.

“The school and alumni network's financial support allowed me to devote 100% of my time to academic and professional development,” Iannantuoni said.

Iannantuoni said Quinnipiac taught him to think as a lawyer, and he looks forward to finding his niche in his career. After clerking, he hopes to help advocate for affordable housing for individuals with disabilities.

“Having the foundational skills and knowledge from Quinnipiac has made me feel far more confident about entering the professional world,” Iannantuoni said.
