Making the Most of Your Time at QU
Calendar System: Use a calendar to keep track of due dates, class meeting times, exam dates, appointments, etc. This can be digital or physical.
To-Do List: Create a to-do list to prioritize, stay organized and keep track of due dates. It’s helpful to write a list of tasks so you do not forget.
Time Blocking: Build structure similar to the schedule you had in high school by planning specific blocks of time in your schedule for work and studying. Consistency is key to building this habit.
Protected Time: Reserve time for you. This can be time to relax, time to spend on hobbies or for self care.
Weekly Routine: Create a weekly routine to build consistency and prioritize work. Schedule an administrative block to plan your week and hold yourself accountable.
Due Date versus Do Date: Keep track of your due dates, but also be sure to plan to do the assignment.
Bonus Advice: Want to learn more about time management? Take QU 105: Learning Strategies Seminar in your first semester. QU 105 is a 1 credit, 7-week course where you can discover practical, evidence-based strategies for learning and academic success. Topics include time management, study strategies that work, combating procrastination, managing test anxiety and so much more.
Move-in date and time options are dependent on which residence hall and other specifics factors a student has, including but not limited to if they are in honors or an LLC. Students will receive an email with the link to pick their move-in date and time. The link will also be posted on MyHousing after their assignment is posted. Each first-year residence hall will host a webinar to share building information and to answer questions at 7 p.m. on the day assignments are posted. There will be a link to these webinars on MyHousing.

Some of your fellow Bobcats got to know each other at a first-year send-off event in Sudbury, Massachusetts. This summer, there are first-year send-off events at locations throughout the Northeast. It’s a great way to get to know other Bobcats before starting the academic year.
The transition to college is an exciting time for new students. To help you make the most of your first year at Quinnipiac, current students, faculty, staff and alumni have some wise words before you start this new journey. Read the advice.
Are you passionate about helping others, curious about a career in behavioral health and looking for a way to gain real-world experience while you're still a student?
Quinnipiac and Hartford HealthCare's Behavioral Health Network are launching the Jumpstart Program, a new pilot opportunity designed specifically for eligible incoming first-year students who are Connecticut-based nursing, occupational therapy and 3+2 social work students.
Through six engaging sessions throughout the fall and spring semesters, you'll connect with healthcare professionals, explore behavioral health careers, build valuable skills, attend special leadership and networking events and gain firsthand exposure to one of the fastest-growing areas of healthcare.
Even better, Jumpstart is designed to help you move from student to professional.
Participants will have opportunities for shadowing experiences, paid work opportunities, career development programming and pathways to internships and future employment with Hartford HealthCare.
All students who complete the program will have the opportunity for a paid job during one of the next three summers, making this an incredible way to begin building your professional network and resume.
We already have 10 students signed up and are looking for 5 more participants to join this inaugural cohort. Interested? Contact Tom Ellett, chief experience officer, at cxo@qu.edu to learn more and secure your spot.
In the latest episode of "Who Are You?," Provost Liebowitz, reflects on how Quinnipiac empowers students to turn education into opportunity. Watch now.
The next few weeks will be busy and a little bit stressful — but that is where Q-Start comes in. It is carefully designed with you in mind. It takes the uncertainty away from the on-boarding process and will let you know what you will need to complete and when.
Email qstart@qu.edu with any questions.
There are a lot of exciting opportunities headed your way this summer — most of which will come through your Quinnipiac email. Be sure to set it up and check it often. We also recommend adding it to your phone.
