Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Monique Drucker said there is a clear connection between student engagement and academic success in higher education.
“This student leader GPA data reinforces connection in a powerful way. Our student leaders consistently demonstrate that involvement outside the classroom complements and enhances success inside the classroom,” Drucker said. “Because balancing their academic responsibilities with leadership commitments requires discipline and intentionality, we see that these qualities often translate directly into stronger academic performance.”
Student engagement helps students develop many of the same skills that contribute to academic achievement. Through leadership roles in student organizations and clubs, they learn time management, communication, problem solving, organization and accountability.
“Learning happens everywhere on our campuses,” said Drucker. “While students notably gain knowledge in classrooms, labs, clinicals, internships and experiential learning opportunities, they also develop critical leadership and life skills through participation in clubs and organizations, community engagement, recreation and wellness, fraternity and sorority life, study abroad and other co-curricular experiences.”
Quinnipiac’s spring 2026 student leadership GPA data spanned the university to include executive boards of the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council and Student Government Association (SGA); Spiritual and Religious Life Advisory Board, Student Programming Board, Global Partners, all SGA organizations, fraternity and sorority presidents, resident assistants, club sport presidents and captains, student organization presidents, service organization leaders, student media leaders, orientation leaders and orientation coordinators.
“I am incredibly proud of our student leaders for their academic accomplishments and for the positive impact they have on our campus community,” Drucker said. “They serve as role models, create opportunities for their peers and help build the vibrant and welcoming culture that defines Quinnipiac.”
Drucker said students who are engaged and involved are also more likely to build meaningful connections with peers, faculty and staff, creating a stronger sense of belonging and support.
Quinnipiac’s wide range of opportunities for student engagement helps Bobcats to discover their passions, strengthen their confidence and prepare them for success after graduation.
“Students who engage deeply in campus life often graduate with strong academic credentials and with the leadership experience, professional competencies and a sense of purpose that will serve them throughout their lives and careers,” said Drucker.
